our CableMod WideBeam Magnetic LED Strip review
CableMod WideBeam

Whether one just wants to illuminate his components or give his rig a cool color theme, using the quality LED strips is the fastest and the easiest way. These things can give every machine that mean, gaming look, especially if you decide to purchase strips made by respected companies.

We’ve decided to take a look at the WideBeam Magnetic LED strips, made by CableMod, which is a company well-known for their premium cable solutions for gaming computers.

Is this thing worth the money? Let’s check it out together!

Interesting Features of the CableMod WideBeam Magnetic LED Strip RGB

The kit arrives in a transparent plastic packaging, stapled shut and allowing you to see the product before opening. The frontal side features the manufacturer’s logo, and the rear one gives details about things such as the length and color.

Upon opening, the LEDs themselves are immediately noticeable – these are the SMD5050 LEDs, and they are, in our honest opinion, the best and the most reliable ones when it comes to PC gaming. The magnets sitting between these lights are also quite obvious.

The thing that separates this product from the competition is the fact that these LED strips are powered by the user’s SATA connector, and they’re actually a pass-through (one doesn’t need a specific connector only for the LEDs).

The package also brings two jumpers, letting the user easily connect extra strips without the need to connect them to another power source.

Another selling point is that this strip can actually deliver a wider beam angle, almost 50% larger than those of the traditional LEDs. Along with the standard colors of blue, red, white, and green, the strips can be purchased in the UV color (a big plus in our book). They’re also fully chainable, which can come in pretty handy if the user is searching for an extra-long light show solution.

One thing we particularly liked is that the WideBeam strips come together with a special adapter. This adapter allows them to work with those ASUS motherboards that have an RGB header, like, for example, the ROG Maximus VII.
